Nominate a Local Hardworking Person/Family in Need of GOOD Wheels!

Goodwill Northern Michigan Seeks Nominations for Vehicle Giveaway to Wexford County Resident

May 8, 2018, (Traverse City, MI) Workers on Wheels (WoW), a Goodwill Northern Michigan program that aims to increase the independence and mobility of hard-working, low income families through safe, reliable transportation is seeking the community’s help in selecting people/families in need of GOOD wheels.

To further extend the Goodwill mission, WoW has purchased a used vehicle to donate back to a nominated person/family in need that resides in Wexford County.  There are a lot of people in need of transportation assistance, so we are calling on residents in Wexford County to help us identify a person/family in their own backyard.  Nominations will open May 8, 2018, online at www.goodwillnmi.org/wowgiveaway and on Goodwill Northern Michigan’s FaceBook page.  Nominations will close May 25, 2018 at noon. Nominees must live in Wexford County.

The nominated winner will be chosen by our Nomination Committee consisting of Jennifer Johnson, Samaritas Senior Care (Cadillac), Pat Goggin, Director of United Way of Wexford-Missaukee counties, Matthew Gibson, Director of Admissions & Marketing at Autumnwood of McBain, and Bill Marsh Jr., Partner at Bill Marsh Automotive Group.  The winner will be notified by June 8, 2018 and awarded the vehicle on June 14, 2018, 8:45 AM at the Cadillac Goodwill Store, 2025 N. Mitchell, Cadillac, MI 49601, during the Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting for the Grand “Re-Opening” of our Goodwill Store.

“With the coordination of this special vehicle giveaway to hardworking people/families living in Wexford County, we hope to raise awareness of the WoW Program and let the public know that we are in immediate need of vehicle donations to help additional families-please donate your vehicle today!” said Sue Vado, Program Manager of Workers on Wheels.  Vehicle, boat, motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile, trailer donations can be made at any of the Goodwill Northern Michigan stores.  WoW has assisted over 1,000 families with vehicles since 1999.  Donated vehicles are inspected, repaired, and awarded to a low-income, working family in need.

Goodwill Northern Michigan, a locally operated non-profit organization, has expanded its donations-based retail presence mission services to better accommodate its vast 19 northern Michigan county service area, from Wexford to Presque Isle, with Traverse City acting as its hub.  Designed to fund mission services, every retail purchase provides an opportunity for a neighbor in need with $0.91 of every dollar earned reinvested back into northern Michigan communities through Goodwill’s Housing, Food and Jobs programs, which includes Workers on Wheels (WoW).  Goodwill customers and donors power our GOOD work throughout Northern Michigan.

Visit www.goodwillnmi.org/wowgiveaway for updates and to nominate a local, hardworking family in need of GOOD wheels.  Goodwill Northern Michigan strengthens communities by enhancing the dignity and quality of life for people in need by overcoming barriers to opportunities through learning and the power of work.  Learn more at www.goodwillnmi.org
